A Child’s Book of Particles contains two extracts from John Connell’s Kwan-Yin Lake Lectures, which were written and recorded documents attached to the series of installations titled The Construction of Kwan-Yin Lake and The Kwan-Yin Lake Pavillion which appeared from 1984-1991.
About the Author
John Connell (1940-2009) was born in Atlanta, Georgia. He attended Brown University, the ArtStudents League, and New York University where he studied Chinese print making. In the mid-1960s, he moved to California, where he worked as the set designer for the San Francisco Mime Troupe. Though best known for his sculptures, drawings and paintings, he was a prolific writer producing numerous texts which often accompanied his installations.
